YGL Formalises Strategic Partnership with Universiti Sains Malaysia
SME Innovation Day

Penang, 6 August 2026 — YGL Intelligent Technology Sdn Bhd has officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM), marking a new chapter of collaboration between industry and academia. The MoU was exchanged at a ceremony — Majlis Pertukaran Memorandum Persefahaman — held at USM under the university’s Synergy USM-SME initiative, led by the Bahagian Jaringan Industri dan Masyarakat (BJIM), USM’s Division of Industry and Community Network.

A Partnership Rooted in Innovation

The signing brings together USM’s research strength and YGL’s expertise in enterprise software and AI-driven sustainability solutions. YGL is recognised for its work in Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP), Warehouse Management Systems (WMS), Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES), e-invoicing compliance, and AI-powered ESG and green manufacturing platforms serving the manufacturing and industrial sectors.

Under the MoU, USM and YGL commit to exploring joint opportunities across several fronts:

  • Exchange of students and staff
  • Joint academic programmes
  • Joint research and development initiatives
  • Joint workshops and training programmes
  • Exchange of publications
  • Other academic linkages to be mutually identified over time

The collaboration will be jointly steered by Dr. Cheah Sau Seng (Jeffrey) on behalf of USM and Mr. Yeap Kong Chean on behalf of YGL, who will lead the effort to translate this framework into concrete joint programmes.

The Exchange Ceremony

The MoU exchange was witnessed by senior leadership from both institutions. Pictured at the ceremony, from left to right:

  • YBhg. Profesor Dato’ Seri Ir. Dr. Abdul Rahman Mohamed, FASc. — Naib Canselor (Vice-Chancellor), USM
  • Mr. Humphrey Ho — Head of Marketing, YGL
  • YBhg. Profesor Dato’ Dr. Azlan Amran — Timbalan Naib Canselor, Jaringan Industri dan Masyarakat (Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Industry and Community Network), USM
  • Ts. Dr. Celvin Tan — Chief Strategy Officer, YGL

Part of a Broader USM-SME Push

The MoU exchange falls under USM’s wider Synergy USM-SME programme, which connects Malaysian SMEs with USM’s academic and research expertise through a simple three-step model: submitting a company profile, being matched with the right research team, and formalising the collaboration through an MoU or MoA. Participating companies gain access to consultancy and advisory support, joint R&D and innovation opportunities, executive training and upskilling, and lab testing and technical validation services.

By formalising this relationship, YGL joins a growing network of Malaysian enterprises working alongside USM to bridge research and real-world industrial application — reinforcing YGL’s ongoing commitment to innovation in enterprise software, sustainability technology, and smart manufacturing.
